Tabletop Night Guessing Game

The rules have been taught twice, the dice tray is full, and somebody is still deciding their turn. Guess the board game and RPG vocabulary your table already speaks.

For groups who own more games than shelf space

Teach the rules later. Clue the table now.

Tabletop Night is a free 72-card Forehead Party deck built from board game and tabletop RPG vocabulary: components like meeples, dice towers, card sleeves, and player aids; mechanisms like worker placement, deck building, area control, and push your luck; and table rituals like session zero, teaching the rules, initiative order, and endgame scoring.

It is written for the people already at the table — game groups, RPG parties, board game cafés, and convention downtime. Nothing here requires a specific game, publisher, or system; the words are the shared language of hobby gaming, so a regular player can clue them instantly and a newer player can still recognize most of them.

Play it while a heavy game is being set up, between one-shots, in the lull after a boss fight, or as the warm-up round before the first player token gets handed out.

  4. Pass the phone. Compare scores once every player has finished a round.

Tabletop deck questions

Before the next turn

What is this deck?

A free 72-card Forehead Party deck of board game and tabletop RPG vocabulary — components, mechanisms, and table rituals from session zero to endgame scoring.

Does it cost anything?

No. Tabletop Night is included free with Forehead Party on iPhone. There is no subscription, no ads, and it works fully offline.

Who is it for and when should we play it?

Board game groups, RPG tables, and game café regulars. It fits the setup lull of a long game, the gap between one-shots, or the warm-up before the first player token is passed out.

How do you play?

Hold the iPhone to your forehead while friends give clues. Tilt down for a correct guess and up to pass, then hand the phone to the next player.

Do we need to know a specific game system to play?

No. The terms are generic hobby-gaming words, not rules from any one publisher or system, so a group that plays anything at all can clue them.
